The Benton County Historical Society teams up with the QSCR!
The Benton County Historical Society is the proud host of the "Quantrill Special Collections Research," the only public special collections in America based on the Kansas-Missouri border wars! In 2018, BCHS will celebrate their sixty fourth year! Founded in 1954 by citizens dedicated to documenting and preserving history, the Benton County Historical Society was born. Boasting memberships in forty of the fifty states, they has been a catalyst in the preservation of historic events by acquiring and maintaining monuments, pinpointing Civil War battles, maintaining cemetery records and the many other jobs by a historical society. The QSCR's partnership with this dedicated organization will provide enormous resources to the educational community and the general public in further advancing the continuing research of northwest Arkansas' ties to some of the most famous and important events in the Kansas-Missouri border wars! Additionally, the BCHS magazine, "The Benton County Pioneer", will feature articles and entries of the many people, places and events that make up the QSCR!
On June 1, 2011, the QSCR was officially recognized by the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee for it's significant historical value and commitment to the northwest Arkansas region. This was a boon to both the QSCR and BCHS!
